How to Root Galaxy Note 10.1 Using Odin

The recently launched Samsung Galaxy Note can now be easily rooted as those of xda-developers had develop a manual method in which you can unchain your handset’s system and this by using the Odin tool. Therefore, during the following step by step guide we will be checking in how to gain root access for your new Note 10.1, all being explained and detailed so everybody can understand what to do. The process will take only a couple of minutes from your time, but it’s important for you to read all the lines from this tutorial, or else you can end up in bricking your Android based device.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 has been one of the most expected handsets of the year, as its little brother, the Note, has managed to impress us all. Now, the Note specs are really impressive, the device being powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.4 GHz (same with the one used on the SGS3), along with 2 GB of RAM memory, 16GB / 32GB / 64GB internal storage memory depending on the version you choose, a 5 MP rear facing camera and of course the 10.1 inch display (1366 x 768 pixel). Beside these, being a Note, you will get dedicated features for satisfying the tablet area of needs like S Pen Experience (S Note, S Planner, My Story), Multiscreen, Adobe Photoshop Touch, Shape Match, Formula Match and more.
As you can already tell, we are dealing with a high end device, but as usual, for enjoying the performances properly, there must be installed the perfect OS. The Note 10.1 is running the Android system but maybe you will be tempted in flashing a custom ROM into its system. The beta ROMs are being designed in order to bring and offer features that are not included in the default version of the Android platform therefore you have all the reason for installing the same on your Note. You will soon be able to do so as during the next few days we will be coming with suitable how to guides. But you must know that for being able to apply a custom ROM you must first learn how to root your Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. Furthermore, there are several apps that requires root access in order to work and run properly, meaning that if you want to use complex tools on your gadget, you must first unchain its system.
By rooting you must understand that you are removing the factory restrictions out from your phone. In this way you can prepare the OS and the internal system for other customization and optimization processes. This is the only method available for improving the performances of your device so you should perform it as soon as you can. Unfortunately, by gaining root access for your Galaxy Note 10.1 you will void your Samsung warranty. This is happening each time a system is getting rooted so you have nothing to worry about. You should be careful though as if you manage to do something wrong than you can brick your device and then, you will be by yourselves. The warranty can be restored but only if you choose to downgrade to the stock ROM or if you apply an official update released by Samsung and suitable for your Note 10.1.
As you are about to perform an unofficial operation on your phone, you should backup the data for ensuring that your personal info will stay in safe hands. As stated, for rooting the Note you will have to use Odin, which is a dedicated tool used especially for this type of processes. But, during the root procedure, your data might be wiped out. Therefore, make the backup and only after that complete the below steps. You can deal with this easily as there are several backup and restore apps available on Google Play. Or you can use our tips by checking out our how to section; you can find there everything about the backup operation so don’t hesitate and use the same.
There are also some pre requisites that must be completed before the proper steps. First, you must ensure that you are having access to a Windows running computer (with Internet connection enabled), to your device and to its USB cord. Next, on your handset enable the USB debugging option from here: “Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging”. Then, on both PC and phone deactivate the security tools like antivirus and Firewall protection. The Note should have at least 60% power left; if different charge its battery first. Finally, go here “Settings -> About Device -> Firmware Version” and check the OS version that runs on your handset. Then, from the links below download the one suitable with the firmware featured by your Note 10.1.
  • Download XXLGA Stock European Firmware with Root injected from here.
  • Download XWALG7 Stock Saudi Arabian/UnitedEmirates Firmware with Root injected from here.
  • Download UEALGB GT-N8013 Firmware with Root injected from here.
Now you can begin the root procedure. Follow the steps and be careful in what you do. Apply this tutorial only for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and not for similar handsets as you can brick the same.
