Root Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 on Android 4.1.2 XXDMB6 Firmware

Since the Note 2 N7100 received the Android 4.1.2 XXDMB6 Jelly Bean Update you should use this tutorial in order to learn how to successfully flash the root files. You will need to read all the info listed in this post but, it is recommended for you to be an advanced Android user as otherwise you might brick the smartphone.
Rooting a device will open up new possibilities for it, as you will be able to flash new custom ROMs and other customization files. You will be able to choose from tons of new custom files that can be found on all Android developer communities. Before starting the rooting process you will need to read the preparation guidelines below:

• use this guide only with the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 model number N7100. Don’t try to root any other smartphones using the files I’ve posted in this article.
• Use this guide only with unlocked variant of Galaxy Note 2.
• Create backups for all the files that are currently stored on your smartphone. You will be backed up in case the device doesn’t boot into normal mode.
• The root will work only for device’s that are running the stock Android 4.1.2 XXDMB6 firmware. We cannot guarantee that it works with previous builds of Jelly Bean ROMs.
• Don’t blame us in case something goes wrong and you brick your device or you lose any data files.
• Enable USB Debugging option from your device’s Developer Options.
• Your computer should have the Galaxy Note 2 USB drivers installed as otherwise you won’t be able to flash the rooting firmware file.
• make sure that your phone’s battery is charged so that its power level is over 40%. This will prevent it from powering off in the middle of the rooting process.
• This is a guide for advanced Android users and you shouldn’t attempt to use in case you don’t know what your doing, as you might end up bricking the device.
• Read the entire post and make sure that you don’t skip any steps that I have listed.

How to root Samsung Galaxy Note 2 on Android 4.1.2 XXDMB6 JB Firmware:

1. Download the XXDMB6 root pack from HERE. Save the file on your computer and then extract its contents to a single folder.
2. Download Odin 3.07 from HERE. Extract ODIN contents and save them on your PC.
3. Power off your smartphone completely.
4. Boot it into Download Mode. It can be done by pressing simultaneously Volume Down, Home and Power buttons. When you’re in Download Mode continue to the next step.
5. Launch ODIN executable.
6. Connect your Galaxy Note 2 to your PC now. ODIN should say ‘added!!’, which means that you can continue to the next step as the phablet has been recognized by your computer.
7. Click the ‘PDA’ button in ODIN and then browse your computer for the XXDMB6 Android 4.1.2 .tar.md5 file. Load it into Odin.
8. Don’t change any default  settings and simply press START. Now, Odin begins the installation of the rooted firmware. This will take several minutes to finish. When the install is complete you will see that the phone restarted and ODIN displays the ‘PASS’ alert.
9. Disconnect the phone from PC and then wait until the Galaxy Note 2 boots into normal mode.

NOTE: if ODIN freezes then you will need to repeat the entire tutorial a second time as you might’ve skipped some steps. Start over from step 4 and make sure that you apply all the instructions I’ve listed above.
If ODIN says ‘pass’ but the phone is unable to boot into normal mode, then you might need to use the Recovery mode and factory reset the device. Boot into Stock Recovery mode and apply the ‘wipe data/ factory reset’ option. After that your device should boot the rooted Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS.
If you want to install the CWM Recovery then you should head to Google Play Store and download the ROM Manager app – link here. Install the ClockworkMod Recovery files using the ROM Manager. Alternatively you can choose to install GooManager app (link here) and flash the TWRP Recovery.

Remember to create a NANDROID backup every time before installing a new ROM, so that you’ll always have a restore point for your smartphone.
