Root Android 4.3 Jelly Bean JWR66V for Samsung Galaxy Nexus I9250 (TWRP Recovery included)

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean has been released for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus model number I9250. If you have applied this new JWR66V Jelly Bean OTA Update for your Galaxy Nexus I9250 device, then you can use this article and learn how to successfully apply root for your device.

• Your Galaxy Nexus should be running on an unlocked bootloader and it should be running the TWRP Recovery image.
• Your device needs to run the TWRP Recovery image before starting the root process, as otherwise you won’t be able to apply any changes.

If you didn’t install the TWRP Recovery image for your Galaxy Nexus, then you can use the next few steps and learn how to do it successfully:

• Download the latest Galaxy Nexus ‘maguro’ TWRP Recovery image from here.
• Place this img file where you have stored the adb and fastboot folders.
• Power off your smartphone.
• Boot the Galaxy Nexus into Bootloader Mode.
  > press Volume Up, Volume Down and Power buttons all at the same time and the Bootloader / Fastboot mode will appear.
• Connect your device with your PC using the USB Data cable.
  > If you have the correct drivers installed, then the Bootloader scren will say FASTBOOT USB.
• Launch the Command Prompt window where you’ve place the TWRP Recovery img file.
• Enter the following command line: fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.0.0-maguro.img
• Wait for the installation to complete.

How to root Samsung Galaxy Nexus I9250 on Android 4.3 JWR66V Jelly Bean firwmare with TWRP Recovery:

1. Download Chainfire’s SuperSU zip from here.
2. Save this zip on your computer or download it directly to your smartphone’s internal SD card storage.
   > if you choose to download the file on your PC, then you need to move it to your phone after that via USB data cable.
   > make sure to place the Update SuperSU zip in an easy to find folder for faster access.
3. Now you need to make sure that your Galaxy Nexus is not connected with your computer.
4. Boot your device into Bootloader Mode now.
   > do it by pressing and holding simultaneously Volume Up, Volume Down and Power.
5. Next, when you’re seeing the Bootloader screen, press Volume Up until the Recovery Mode option is listed.
6. Press Power to boot into TWRP Recovery Mode.
7. Press the ‘Install’ button in TWRP Recovery.
8. Find the UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.43.zip file and select it for installation.
9. In order to begin installation and root process, slide the blue bottom to the right.
10. The root shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes to finish. Return to the main TWRP Recovery screen when the root is complete.
11. Press Reboot, then ‘System’ and wait for your device to load the Android 4.3 JWR66V home screen.
