How to Root Samsung Galaxy Note 3 LTE N9005 on Android 4.3 XXUDMJ7 Jelly Bean

Android 4.3 XXUDMJ7 OTA Update firmware has been released for the Note 3 LTE and, now, users who want to root it can find all the info they need in this article. It is an easy to follow tutorial, which should help you flash all files in no time without bricking your device.
Read the guidelines below before continuing to the ‘how-to’ part of this post:
  • Use the guide exclusively for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 LTE with model number N9005.
    - don’t try to root any other Galaxy Note 3 models with the files you find here.
  • Download and install Samsung USB Drivers for your device from here.
  • Disable Samsung KIES and all antivirus applications before starting the updating process.
    - such apps will interfere with the rooting process.
  • Enable USB Debugging from Developer Options menu.
    - if Developer Options is not listed, then you will need to go to About Phone, open it and then tap seven times on the ‘build number’ section.
  • Use the guide only if you know what you’re doing. Do not blame us in case you brick the phone or lose any important data in the process.
  • Check the battery power level and make sure that it is over 50%, so that your phone won’t power off in the middle of the rooting process.
  • Don’t skip any steps and read the entire post before continuing to the interesting part of this article.
  • For any other questions, use the comments section.
Now that you know all of the above, continue to the root part.

How to root Android 4.3 XXUDMJ7 Jelly Bean for Galaxy Note 3 LTE N9005:

  1. Download the CF Auto Root zip for this phone from here.
  2. Extract the contents of the zip and save the obtained file on your desktop.
    - you’ll get a .tar.md5 file, don’t extract further than that.
  3. Download Odin3 v3.07 from here.
    - extract the zip files.
  4. Power off the phone.
  5. Now boot it into Download Mode:
    - do it by pressing and holding Volume Down, Home and Power, all at the same time.
    - release all buttons when the Warning! menu is show, then press Volume Up to load the Download Mode.
  6. Launch Odin exe on your PC.
  7. Connect the Note 3 LTE with your computer via USB cable.
    - if ODIN doesn’t recognize the device, then you have to re-install the Samsung USB Drivers and then repeat the entire tutorial from step 4.
  8. In Odin, click the PDA button and then browse your PC contents for the CF-Auto-Root tar.md5 file. Load the file in Odin.
    - make sure that Re-Partition is disabled.
    - don’t change any other default settings.
  9. Click START to begin the rooting process.
  10. When root is complete, ODIN says ‘PASS’ and then Galaxy Note 3 LTE reboot in normal mode.
  11. Disconnect the phone from PC when the Samsung boot animation screen appears.
  12. Wait for the first boot process to complete and then you can take control over your phone’s new Jelly Bean 4.3 firmware.
In case ODIN doesn’t complete the root, the phone enters into a boot loop or you encounter any other problem, then you will have to close ODIN, disconnect the phone from PC, remove the phone’s battery and after that re-insert the battery back into its place. Now, repeat the entire tutorial once again from the beginning. If you still cannot complete the installation, then you will have to ask for help in comments.
NOTE: if ODIN says that the root was passed, but the phone doesn’t load any further than the Samsung boot animation, then you will be forced to apply a factory Reset. This will wipe all contents from the system partition, but it will eventually force your Galaxy Note 3 LTE to boot with this Android 4.3 firmware.
Here’s how to apply Factory Reset for Galaxy Note 3 N9005 LTE from Stock Recovery Mode:
  • remove the phone’s battery for a few seconds, so that the device is powered off.
  • boot the phone in stock Recovery mode:
    - it can be done by pressing Volume Up, Home and Power.
  • release the buttons when the stock Recovery screen appears.
  • select ‘wipe data/ factory reset’ and confirm.
  • when the factory reset is complete select ‘reboot system now’.
  • enter your Google Account info when the home screen of Android 4.3 appears.
Root should now be complete and you’re free to flash any new custom ROMs or any other customizations that will allow you to enhance your Jelly Bean experience.
